8th - 10th June
Today was an early morning pick up and onto a 6hr bus journey to Siem Reap. Cheryl didn't make it as she was hanging too much from her night out so had to re-book for the following day.
Stayed at the Siem Reap Hostel. A nice place that had been recommended and it has a pool table a yoga room and best of all a swimming pool :o)First things first though and out for lunch to the Blue Pumpkin.A really stylish place, very slick all-white fixtures, bed seating, contemporary and has great food/shakes.
Back to our hostel for a swim with Michelle (first one in over 5 weeks, it felt so good) and then we enjoyed some yoga afterwards. Tomorrow we have a 5am start as going to see the Temples of Angkor Wat and want to be there for when the sun rises, so with this in mind a quiet evening was spent in at the hostel bar with just a couple of cocktails before retiring to our beds.
Tuk Tuk pick up at 5am, how tired were we!!! The sun rose literally minutes before we got there, gutted! How annoying is that, could have stayed in bed a little longer! We still managed to get a few cool pictures though so that was good. We visited the three most magnificent temples at Angkor, Bayon with it's eerie faces, the romantic Ta Prohn and the immense Angkor Wat. All an extravagant beauty and are not to be missed. You can get an Elephant to one of the temples and as this was something Michelle has always wanted to do the three of us booked up so have done yet another Elephant ride. After an amazing and breathtaking take at the Temples of Angkor Wat the three of us head back to our hostel for more yoga and swimming before hooking back up with Cheryl and ready for a night out on Pub Street (the place to go of an evening around here) We had a cool night in bars 'Angkor Wat' & 'Temple' then as drunken leavers stopped off at the burger van like you do and enjoyed a big plate of chips.
Cheryl sets off to see the temples on her own today (that'll teach her for having a big night before a long early bus journey, hehe!) and with not much else going on around here Danielle, Michelle & I paid $5 to laze around a pool side of a near by hotel. After a couple of hours chillaxing got a Tuk Tuk to 'The Happy Ranch' to go horse riding for an hour (one of my favourite pass times). The horse ride was cool and we went past a lot of locals hanging around outside their homes, all of which were so happy to see up us passing by that they would all come by the road side, adults and kids to wave and say Hello, how sweet.
