Silver Gap Year
It was a nice lazy start this morning travelling down the west coast road to Hotikika. Our accommodation tonight is a Birdsong YHA hostel overlooking the Pacific ocean. We stayed ahead of Cyclone Debbie which is creating havoc in the North as well as the top of the South Island. On our way down we visited Punakaiki and the Pancake Rocks where the sea surges through blow holes at high tide and during rough seas. The rock formations are very striking but the sea stayed calm so no spectacular fountains of water for us. Even so it was still a lovely walk.
