Adventures of a Global Wanderer
so this gypsy woman comes asking for money and i say no
the she starts shoving her cardboard sign into my waist and i notice she is reaching into my pocket underneath.. lucky for me it was my camera case and i was wearing tight jeans on purpose coz i read about the pickpockets
food issues. everything is meat.. no veggie options.. even mcdonalds doenst have the filet fish.. there are pakistanis everywhere. i am speaking more urdu than spanish. they run all the souvenir shops and just start talking to me in urdu just by looking at me.. most are punjabi pakistani it seems.. you cant tell at first as everyone is tanned and unshaven here.. just listen for the music if in doubt!
so spent the first half day at monjuic where the olympic park and castle are.. then went to poble espanol which is fake town centre they built and every street represents a different region of spain.. met another pakistani who was talking to me for a while and made a veggie pizza for me.. guess he doesnt get many urdu speaking people there.. this morning went to barri gotic which is the old quarter and the roman quarter... if the heat doesnt get you the passing thundershowers today did
subway interchanges are useless as you can be walking 5 blocks up and down stairs and tunnels to get to the other line... visited the gaudi places, casa mila, casa pedera, casa vincens, park guell.. went to the sagrada familla which is the big anthill cathedral but the towers were closed due to rain
tomorrow off to madrid and will stop in zaragoza on the way.. the islamic tour begins as zaragoza has the largest intact islamic structure in northern spain..
thats all for now, hopefully i wont die in the heat and starve from the lack of food :(
