Adventures of a Global Wanderer
Next stop was the coastal border town of Helsingor the home of Kronborg, Hamlets castle. There is meant to be a direct train from Hillerod to Helsingor but confusingly there is also a longer loop local train.
As I arrived I missed the train and luckily it was the longer loop one so good job I didn't get on that one. I waited for the noon train and arrived in 26 mins at Helsingor.
The rain was heavy and there were meant to be a couple of things in the town by the station as well as the castle. As the rain was heavy and my tight schedule I just went straight to the castle.
Entrance to the castle was 80K ($16) and there were many school groups I tried to get around.
Kronborg has become famous as the setting of Shakespeare's Hamlet and there were exhibits of the many performances of the play that have taken place here over the years
This castle was from an older period than Frederiksborg I had just visited in Hillerod. The rooms were whitewashed and more bare. However they were decorated with wall size tapestries.
Outside there were canons facing the opposing Swedish coast, where the two rival Kingdoms had their standoff keeping a watchful eye on each other in a clear line of sight.
