Adventures of a Global Wanderer
This morning the German family had left the Casa so I got to look in their empty rooms when they were being cleaned. They were really nice like mine and I remember the bare living quarters the family had when I glanced inside. I felt bad for the family and was going to leave a good tip when I left.
They werent expecting me for breakfast and she was asking 'horaire'. I understood from French meaning time. I'm not sure if she was saying I was too late or that I didnt tell them what time. It was only 8.10 so she said 'trenta minuta' which sounded like 'trente minute' (30 mins in french).
We gathered by the school next door for our bus. Today was a freeday so for an optional excursion we were first going to the Mural de la Prehistoria. This is not in fact an ancient mural but a modern work of art from the 1960s on a rock face.
You had to pay $3P to go in so instead the bus parked on the side of the approach road. I couldnt get a clear shot so went under some barbed wire into a field when someone told me to. Then in the distance I saw the bus door closing and driving off.
I didnt know if they were playing a joke or actually forgot me but I wasnt bothered as it was only one road back into the town and they'd have to come back for me when they realized. They did a u-turn in the parking lot and came back to face me so I was none the wiser if it was a joke or accident though I found it amusing rather than upsetting.
Next stop was a tobacco farm. They explained the process of how they planted in Sept, and harvested in Feb. It was now high season and they allow the leaves to ferment for three months.
Fortunately the royal palm leaves are of little interest to insects and rodents as a source of food. We then had a short cigar making demonstration. Youtube video is included below

They were selling cigars 10 for $20P. Instead I bought 2 for $2P but then I didnt have cases to put them in. We then explored the rest of the farm and animals.
