HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY MUM
Woohoo, arrived in New Zealand at last! The flight from Fiji was delayed but my lovely friend Kirsten was still wating for me. Was brilliant to see a familiar face. Looking forward to meeting up with Laura and Dee as well, my friends from home.
Got to the hostel and then went out looking for somewhere to have dinner. I am so not impressed with Auckland and I have only been here 5 mins. It's a Saturday night and it's completely dead! Did have a nice dinner though and then got in a taxi to a bar slightly out of town. The boys in NZ are HOT!
11th
Went to Devonport which is an island about 20 mins from Auckland. It's lovely here, really nice beaches and just a lovely feel to the place. It has 2 small volcanos which we went to the top of and seen very nice views of Auckland. It's so warm as well - I LOVE this weather. Found an Irish bar to have lunch in, they serve Irn Bru!!! Stayed with Kirsten and her family for the rest of the day. She is heading back to the UK tomorrow Wish she was here longer.
12th - 22nd
So have been looking for jobs and there is a serious lack of them, either that or I'm not trying hard enough. Laura and Dee are having the same problems as well.
Went back to Devonport with Laura and Dee, did a wee tour then went back to the Irish bar for some Irn Bru - Dee was in heaven.
Went to an island called Rangitoto on the 17th, it's a volcanic island and has a couple of good hikes. Not as long as I am used to which is a blessing since I am so unfit right now. Laura, Dee, Simon and Namie all came along. The views from the top were amazing.
Went out that night and got drunk!! It was a really fun night actually, wore my lovely new dress and even got chatted up by a few irish guys. Normally I would be loving it but the fact they were about 40 was not good!
Laura and Dee decided to go to Wellington. I'm still holding out for a job but it's not looking hopeful. Decided to go to Wellington myself after a while. The only good think about Auckland is my friend Blair from EK lives here with his girlfriend.
So didn't do much in my 12 days in Auckland apart from staring at a screen for 5 hours a day looking for jobs! Can't say I am sad to leave!
