Our first week is coming to an end...as we head to Bogota tomorrow morning. The week here was "mucho calor" (good heat). The average temp in Cartagena is 28 degrees with 90% humidity.
Our days were filled with walking through the old town, a hop on hop off bus tour allowing us two days to roam the city, a local beach at Bocogrande, and a boat tour taking us to Isla del Pirata (one of the Rosario islands).
We just missed the Pope's visit which meant everything was a bit cleaner in the city, as our airbnb owner's daughter put it "they even cleaned the river!" She attends a Montessori school just a block away from the house. I won't complain about an early start school again as she starts at 6:30am each day.
The hop on hop off bus included a walking tour of old town, which if you have visited Havana has some similarities, but don't tell anyone I said that as it is not a favourite comment down here.
Our final day was on a small island, with a hotel of 11 rooms. We arrived for the day with lunch included and relaxed. As Frank said "he will spend his final day before he changes age brackets on surveys - from 34-49 to 50-64." I always love talking to the kids at school when they are turning 10...a serious move into double digits, but Frank's comment brought a whole new perspective!
We fly in the morning and have cooler days ahead...stay tuned!
