We had a tour organised for today so we were feeling less than happy when alarms went off at 6.45. I'm actually getting quite good at rising early but it's still no craic whatsoever. We headed round to panda travel and waited for our bus to the tunnels. On the way we were going to visit the largest temple in Vietnam, which is pretty exciting! We were on the bus for about two hours, half asleep and half listening to music. We eventually hit the temple and had to remove our shoes before going in. Normally you would have to cover your shoulders and arms too, however as this temple is so widely used for tourism, we were ok!
The temple was beautiful, it was a plethora of colours and scents. The worshippers were on the ground praying whilst a group at the back where chanting and singing. It was really incredible and the colours of the temple stood out so much. I was mesmerised! After an hour we then headed for lunch at a rest stop. I just had standard rice and beef. We met Adam there who is a fashion photographer in London and els who is a medical lawyer from holland. We all bundled back into the bus and headed for the chu chi tunnels. This was the place that was man made by the Vietnamese during the war, and took a grand total of 20 years to complete. It was insane, the tunnels where so small you couldn't even fit normal sized people in them, strictly Vietnamese! The tour was cool and was only slightly disrupted by some drunk Ahole Australian guy. He started climbing on the tanks and trying to correct the guide about his facts. I think the Vietnamese man might have had the upper hand on facts regarding Vietnam! We then got in the bus and had a good couple of hours journey back. We half slept and woke just as we stopped outside a place called 'bum coffee'. Delicious! Our day was pretty exhausting so Becky and I ended up grabbing some food and watching some movies in our room. Tonight's viewing was the wedding singer, which Becky had never seen; shocking!
