Deb's Adventures
When I booked this trip way bay back in early May, I could not have imagined how much we would need the break by November. The timing could not have been more perfect. Eric finished his training at TMC and passed his check ride late on the 10th and is now officially a pilot again. He returns to work on November 26th and begins regular rotations. It feels almost like normal life again with him working and us traveling. It has been a long, stressful summer and now we are relaxing in Mexico with Ryan and Clarice and having a blast.
My Vacation began on Sunday morning with a trip to the Spa with my good friends Val and Becca. We made a pitcher of Mimosas which is the proper way to begin an Holiday. We enjoyed spa pedicures and manicures and all had 20 minute chair massages. We laughed and carried on and had our own little spa party. The girls at Body Spa Rituals took great care of us and joined in with the laughter and the jokes. They brought us wine and took their time with us and really let us unwind. It was fantastic. I am going to start all my vacations this way from now on.
After the Spa, Becca drove me to Denver to the Embassy Suites where I was staying the night so I could get up bright and early and catch my flight. We hung out in the lobby bar and had lunch and watched football for a while. Becca left and I decided I needed a nap before dinner. I love hotels it's the only time I can actually rest in the middle of the day. I feel asleep immediately and slept soundly. I woke up at 6:15 and panicked that I had overslept and missed my flight. I laughed really hard at myself when I realized it was still Sunday night and not Monday morning. I still had 12 hours until my flight to Houston. I found a sports bar and grill and planted myself in front of the Avalanche game and ate dinner. All in all a very relaxing start to my trip.
Monday morning finally arrived. I got up at 3:30am and caught a very early shuttle to DIA. Traveling worked out great. I was shocked when United let me check my bag for free and all of our flights were on time. I met Ryan and Clarice in Houston and we caught our connecting flight to Cancun. Eric traveled from Wichita to Cancun separately and arrived an hour before us. I had not seen Eric in 18 days because he was in training in Kansas. I was so excited to see him I barely noticed all the people trying to sell us timeshares as we raced towards the airport exit. We found Eric sipping a beer at a tikibar named Margaritaville just outside the front door of the airport. Let the party begin.
Our resort is about 45 minutes South of Cancun in Playa Del Carmen. We found our shuttle and we were on our way. We arrived at the resort and were greeted with Pina Caladas and Margaritas. We got checked into our room, explored the resort and went to dinner. We were all pretty tired from traveling all day so we went to bed early. It has been a great start to what I am sure will be a great vacation.
