Debbi & Phil EuroTrip 2006
Well our four night stay in Dubrovnik is nearly over, and with it the holiday part of this trip. Back to hardcore backpacking tomorrow. Today we took a boat to the nearby island of Lokrum, which is a protected nature reserve (for plants, dissapointingly). After swimming in the Dead Sea (or the cheap, Lokrum equivalent) we found a "beach" (apparantly they don't have sand in Croatia) and swam in the sea for abit. Also had our very budget picnic of cheese sandwiches and an apple. Then we trekked all the way to the top of the island to the Fort built there. Was much moaning along the way but was a good view back over Dubrovnik from the top. Then it was back to Dubrovnik (via the not so budget cafe for drinks and ice creams) and to finally walk the city walls. This was as picturesque as promised and well worth the effort, despite the heat. Just had a nice meal in the Old Town and strolled through the streets which are beautiful at night.
Morning bus to Split tomorrow, then overnight ferry to Ancona then train to Rome where hopefully we shall be in touch again.
