Hi all, Its a rainy night in Ko Samui so taking the opportunity to updated the ole blog.
Since our last update Katie and I have travelled about a fair bit! We started off by going from Phi Phi to Phuket. We stayed a night in Phuket Town becuase it said that it would be a good idea in the Lonely Planet guide (Our bible). Turns out it wasn't.... we got to see a few temples but on the whole the place is pants... sometimes Lonely planet is wrong. There I said it. Anyhow we jumped on a bus and headed across to Katong on the coast.
We stayed in a nicer hotel in Katong which had a pool, which was good really as it is too dangerous to go in the seas there at this time of year as they have riptides this time of the year and we would probably die. nice.
We were going to head to Patong to mingle with the ladyboys, but decided that Phuket wasn't our cup of tea so headed across the country the next day to Ko Samui to mingle with the ladybhoys here!
We are staying in Chaweng in Samui which is the most touristy area on the island. So touristy in fact that on the one road they have two McDonalds, Subway, KFC and a Burger King. I turned my nose up at this at first but after a night on the tiles last night at a club called Green Mango (Thanks for the tip Jess) I buried a Big Mac meal in about two minutes.
The 'girls' here have a really interesting way of getting you into their bars. One hugged Katie until she gave in and we had a beer there. It was easily two minutes and was pretty wierd.
There is also a group of entrepreneurs here who come up to you when you are having a drink and put an animal on you and try to make you pay to have a photo with the animal. Pretty wierd when they just chuck it on you, even wierder when the animals in question are Snakes, Gibbons and a massive eagle.
I'm not painting the best picture of the place, but we both actually really like it here. The beach is beautiful even though you get accosted every five minutes by someone try to sell you a bracelet, ice cream, duvet covers..... the food is great and nightlife really fun.
We are staying here for another couple of nights then heading across to Ko-Phangan on Friday to gear up for the full moon party which I have been assured will be awesome.
Hope everyone is well
