Started to feel safer in Sacromento but had landed myself with a really bed cold and was feeling drained and very tired. Sacromento was lovely and the weather beautiful so just decided to chill out there. My general plan is to get on the tour bus to see everything I should but really wasn't feeling well enough so just followed the bus - just couldn't hear the commentary!!!! Nice feeling there and it was very clean & looked after - I liked it a lot. Next on to San Francisco where I drove over the Golden Gate Bridge. Starting to feel loads better and went off to investigate. It was getting late when I pulled into a gas station lost yet again and asked a couple of people which way to go and they decided to adopt me!! They seemed fascinated that I was English and on my own so they took control! I took a photo of Stephen ( the main man!) and then got the others to pose in a group and my battery went on the camera - I was so disappointed!! Anyway Stephen & Jake were gay lovers and they told me all their problems over burgers and coffee and then we all went to a reggae club! Had an amazing night and really was well into the reggae beat by the time we came out. Then they took me on a tour of San Francisco - went up to twin peaks to look over the city (cars parked with people partying in all sorts of ways!!) Haight Street, famous in the hippy era now lots clubs, pubs etc - the Mission area (trendy) the down and outs area (glad we were in a car!) The druggie area (both Steven and Jake very anti drugs) and then onto Ocean Beach which we all walked along at 4.30 in the morning. They were absolutely excellent company and made me laugh a lot with the way they were. My only disappointment was the camera. Anyway addresses exchanged ( they want to come to England) I left them at 6am completely exhilerated and bopping to the Reggae bit for the next 24 hours at least! Next stop San Jose which was great although still loving Sacromento so far. Walked into a Mall to freshen up (bear in mind I actually had had no sleep) and an Israeli girl was demonstrating make up. She looked at me and said I definately needed a makeover!! Thank god I'm not sensitive!! We really clicked and the next thing I was invited to dinner! Her boyfriend came (10 years younger) and seemed delighted with the arrangement so we all met up later. Didn't but any makeup but she certainly made me look better! Had a really excellent evening with 4 Israelis and we had a terrific debate while eating some great food. Eti, Rak,Cam and ? were all travellers in the past and had some great stories. Still no camera really have to put my mind to getting battery charged!!
