Our Year of Adventure
We packed our bags after breakfast and checked out Hatun Quilla. We weren't moving far, Hostel Mallqui was literally round the corner and it only took a few minutes to walk there.
We got Room 203, the one we went to see yesterday, so were were quite happy. We lazed around for a while in the hostel mulling over which company we should choose for the Inca Jungle Trail.
We were still undecided by lunchtime but we did know we wanted to eat something. Jack's, an Australian style cafe, had been recommended especially for their flat white coffees. It was packed though and there was a line out the door. We waited though and our order was taken while we were still in the queue so by the time we got a table our food came pretty quick. Maria went for a smoked trout, caper and avocado sandwich which looked huge when it came out especially with the thick cut homemade bread. David tried for a more authentic Aussie staple - a burger. Both were equally delicious and no doubt we will be back to try more of their menu.
We finally opted to book our Inca Jungle Trail to Machu Picchu with Conde Travel. It was the cheaper of the two we looked at but we figured the scenery will be the same and the accommodation is much of a much.
After taking a wander around Avenida Sol, we came back to the hostel to sort out some photos only to discover that we had lost a complete day from Arequipa. The copy from the camera to hard disk was corrupted and the corrupted copy backed up to memory stick. Without realising the originals were deleted from camera...gutted!!
