Our Year of Adventure
We went back to Cafeto for breakfast, it was still really slow service but the coffee was good and they had yogurt for the healthy option instead of the whipped cream that was served up the last time.
We checked out of the hotel at midday and walked two blocks to take the trolley bus to the bus terminal of Guitumbe. The first trolley was packed and we had to let it pass because we couldn't get in with our big bags. The next one was not much emptier but we squeezed in regardless for a very uncomfortable hour's ride.
We bought our tickets for the bus to Baños and fortunately it was leaving in 10 minutes so there was no hanging around. There was some really nice scenery on the way including a close up view of Volcan Cotopaxi. We were on a "direct" bus but it seemed to stop for anyone standing along the road so we're still a bit confused about what "direct" actually means. The bus did make it to Baños on schedule in about 3.5 hours.
Booking accommodation online had proved a bit fruitless yesterday, so we just had a list of preferred options and would try our luck. The town isn't too big so it wasn't far to walk to Plantas y Blanco. Our luck was in, they had vacancies and we were given a nice room with view onto a bustling street corner. They had a great roof terrace with view of waterfall and town.
We went to Cafe Hood for dinner, as well as offering local fare, it had a bit of an Asian flare to it. Maria had a Pad Thai while David went for Indian Curry. It wasn't too bad but definitely not as hot as we hoped for.
