Our Year of Adventure
We were in no great rush this morning and had time for a leisurely breakfast at Betty's. The Buses Magellanes bus to Puerto Natales was at 10:45am and it would only take us 15 minutes to walk to bus stop in the town centre.
There were only four passengers on the bus so it left promptly for the 3 hour trip. The weather was okay during the journey, but as we arrived to Puerto Natales it began to rain. Not great for our walk from the bus terminal to the Singing Lamb hostel even if it was just a few blocks away.
As far as hostels go, the Singing Lamb was fantastic. It had a huge common area with bar, sofas, computers and tables and chairs. The rooms were big too and decorated to a standard you would find in a hotel. It was slightly on the expensive side, but not too much more than other accommodation in the town.
It began to rain really heavily, but we needed to walk to town to eat and to confirm our Torres del Paine tour. We went to El Living, by the plaza, for lunch and despite being a vegetarian cafe, it served up a nice pasta.
After a quick stop in the super busy supermarket, we went to Fantastico Sur office to make sure our "W Trek" was all confirmed. Everything was all booked but the vouchers were not ready yet. Patricia gave us the briefing which meant we didn't have to come back in the evening for the general one.
It was Friday evening and with a bar in the hostel, it seemed appropriate to go for a few drinks. It was Scandinavians, British and antipodeans gracing the bar. When the Swedish guy arrived at the bar he had a voucher for a welcome drink which made everyone else ask where their's was. Aussie Dave behind the bar got vouchers for everyone and made a Singing Lamb Iced Tea (like Long Island Iced Tea but with Pisco instead of Gin). Very nice!!
