Our Year of Adventure
After another wonderful breakfast, we had an easy morning reading up on Uyuni tours and accommodation for Potosi. Our only other arrangement for the day was having a picnic in the park with Carlee and Andy.
We walked by the supermarket to pick up a few things and were spoilt for choice with sliced meats and cheeses. We met the guys in front of the theatre and walked down to Bolivar Park. There were some really nice buildings around the park, like the Court. There was also an enormous playground for children with a dinosaur theme.
We managed to make it proper picnic with French bread, cheese, meat, salami, chips, cookies, ginger ale and beer - everything you need really. After we had finished that off, we went to have some ice cream at Sandra's Heladeria which serves some of the best ice cream in Sucre.
Walking back towards the town centre, we stopped at Para Ti, the chocolate shop, to stock up for the cold days ahead on the Salt Flats Tour.
We had read in Lonely Planet that it was possible to climb to the top of building Prefectura de Chuquisaca on 25 de Mayo Square. We asked the security guard on the ground floor and they waved us through. We found the stairs to the roof at the far end of the building where we found some rickety iron stairs that took us up to the cupula. It didn't feel particularly safe but it offered great views in every direction.
