After meeting Liz and Gareth (whose wedding we went to a couple of weeks ago) at the airport by chance (on way back from honeymoon!), an emotional goodbye with families and a long delay at the airport we finally left for Mumbai. I was very nervous at first but we seemed to overcome our first trials of people ripping us off by getting a pre-paid taxi and not letting anyone have our receipt until we found the taxi rank we made it to Mumbai (having said this we were then ripped off by the tai driver saying we needed to give us a tip. We didn't want to do the wrong thing and offend them so we ended up giving them a note as we had no change! Oops!). We did a bit of sight seeing (Gateway of India and surrounding area) before collapsing, exhausted. Things really got going yesterday (our second day) when we took a boat to Elephanta island then walked from Colaba up to Chowpatty beach for sunset. Unfortunately a little touch of Delhi Belly for Dave has given me the time to leave him to recover and come and write this! Other than that the food has been amazing - just what I was hoping for!
