Well after our first experience on the night bus in Vietnam we arrived a massive four hours later than experience due to attempted selling of the DMZ tour and various hotels. We then experience more selling once we get off the bus for hotels and guest houses. We finally ended up discovering after walking round for an hour in the hot mid day sun, that Lonely Planet our bible had failed us! They had got the location of the guest house we wanted to stay in wrong. Oh yes completely wrong and we have walked 30 minutes the wrong way, but we managed to get to the guest house which was basic but nice and very friendly family ran it :D. We spent the first day just walking around and chilling out in Hue which is much less busier than Hanoi. We headed out in the evening to the DMZ bar which is a popular bar for backpackers where they were celebrating their birthday so it was fun filled night with free drinks given every few hours, which is always a bonus.
The next day we decided to hire bicycles and cycle the city. We managed to bump into our friends Crystal and Nile literally just as they arrived in Hue, this seems to be the trend and we don't even need to text we just end up bumping into them in city we are in since Vang Vieng in Laos. Its a good thing we like them haha! We cycled round the city which was rather frustrating as the mopeds and cars beep constantly just to say they are coming pass and watch out. We crossed over the river to the Citidel which is a protected sight as its where the king used to live. It was a mixture of ruins and new recreations of the old, they are trying to rebuilt it. But at snails pace considering that they hire the oldest of people to getting all the rocks and stones out the ground so they can rebuild it. It was definitely interesting to see, we didn't get a tour guide so I just decided to make up my own tour which David believed was real for the first ten minutes. He actually thought I had been doing loads of reading up on the Citidel silly boy. That evening we went for food and drinks with Crystal and Nile. The next day we were headed to Hoi An ... the land of tailoring in Vietnam.
