After a three hour bus journey later we arrived in Halong Bay, for comedy along the bus journey we had a very amusing 8 year old Vietnamese girl telling us tales in very good English might I add of her and her cousin's mischief. Including a hilarious story of calling him a coconut head as well as him using Thai kickboxing by the sounds of it against her?! We arrived in Halong Bay to see our Amigo tour boat our home for the next few days in the distance, we took a water taxi boat out to it. After being greeted but the small crew and being shown our room (of which the toilet door and toilet seat were broken in the room). We sat down to eat lunch which was all amazing seafood, and rice etc. After lunch we headed up to the sunroof for some sunbathing, as we came nearer to the pat of the bay in which we would be going to look round. We got taken on a rather long walk round a cave which was really interesting to see however the tour guide's tales of the cave were a touch on the imaginative. Then we hit the water for some kayaking of which surprisingly I did all the work David the lazy boy kept slacking off. As the went round the bay and saw upclose the some of the rock formations we were impressive. But slightly upset at the rubbish in the water so many plastic bags and bottles from the nearby floating villages. An Australian lady we met said she had come last year and it was worse, so it was good to know it was better but a little upsetting. We headed back to the Amigo for a swim and dinner followed but various people on the boat singing karaoke, we opted out to look at the stars from the sun deck.
The next day was rather wet and damp, as we stayed returning back to the dock. The weather clearer though, which was good, the scenery was amazing the water not so hot but all in all a good trip. The people we meant on the boat were lovely but the bar man had creative maths when it came to adding the bill up but we just thought that could be him tip. Not that it is ever very much out here usually just over a pound. After the boat returned to dock we got driven back to Hanoi, the next evening we are getting the night bus down to Hue.
The following day was simply spent in Hanoi looking round the old quarter and relaxing, we eat at pho 24 which cooks the traditional pho dish. Noodles with veg and meat, really good but you add lots of extra things in yourself to make it taste nicer. As the day drew on we headed to get the night bus, it looked rather clean and they had a toilet on board bonus! Next stop Hue.
