So it was onto Maun the gateway to the Okavango Delta - we arrived mid afternoon and the camp was really nice - ran by a couple of Kiwis. Pool and bar was definitely appreciated. But disaster hit around 5pm where a flash flood hit the camp while we were at a briefing and lightning hit a mere 5 metres from our camp. I have never seen Falk lightning hit before it was breathtaking and kind of scary. Our tents were before we could get to them around 3 inches under water and it was just getting too the doors! I had to run out in the storm and move it - by the time the majority of the camp was flooded we were actually in the middle of someone else's camp on higher ground - saw the funny side after a while.
It was seriously like a full swamp that we cooked our food in that night. 5am start tomorrow and to be honest both Megan and I are a little apprehensive about the Delta tomorrow. But we shall see.
