David and Julie Browning's Travels
Left Budapest today to head for Munich. Stopped at a little place called Ansfelden, just outside Linz in upper Austria. We stopped here for no reason other than it was a halfway point to Munich, although doing a bit of research indicates Linz may have been worthy of a couple of days.
Drove into Linz tonight for a bite to eat. Fog is a real pea soup affair. So thick that it is difficult to see where we are going, in fact we had a close call with a couple of deer trying to cross the road.
Picked out an Italian restaurant to eat at, L'Osteria Pizza e Pasta, which proved to be a great choice. There must have been almost a 100 people inside. It was loud, boisterous, and buzzy. We though we had no chance of getting a table, but the guy on the door said "20 minutes, wait at the bar for a table". So we waited with a couple of glasses of red wine. Wasn't even 10 minutes when a waiter showed us to a table. Fifteen minutes later and we were tucking into a couple of bowls of great pasta and chicken in a creamy tomato sauce.
Might have to put Linz on our list of "come back to" places for a closer look. But for now, a good place to stop for the night before we head to Munich.
