We successfully caught the train from our Amsterdam hotel and within 30 minutes we were in the middle of Amsterdam Airport... OMG> this place is huge. We took ages finding our checkin gate... it was a real maze. But we completed the challenge and were soon on the 2 hour flight to Helsinki. I know that all these countries are in the EU, but it really surprised me that we did not need our passports at either end. It was just like a domestic flight. ...

It was after that train change in Brussels that things started to whirl out of control. The train stopped and we were told of delays caused by the train in front of us having stopped. We spend an hour just waiting. Then we we finally got flying along the tracks again, we were stopped in Rotterdam and told of the storm that was hitting Amsterdam. Our train was stopped as there were high winds causing havoc. .....gggrr - sure it looked a bit windy but ...

After yesterday, we opened the blinds with caution.. and were pleasantly pleased to see the sun. We strolled up the road, David wondering if he should go back and change into shorts. We jumped on the first bus which took us directly into the city and found a nice cafe to start our breakfast. It was sooooo nice sitting outside in the sun,,,, we even had to use sunglasses. ahhh. It was nice to sleep in the first day after the tour….and when we finally left the hotel after breakfast, we realised that we should probably have just stayed in bed. The weather was atrocious. Rain was falling in buckets. We walked up to London Bridge station, party to determine where we needed to go to get to the international airport the following day but we had thought we might go over the Thames and walk around the Tower of London. The alarm went at 6am, and it was bags out at 7am, breakfast at 7am and leaving at 8am. We aren't going to miss that part, and I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. On the first day of the tour, everyone piled their plates high from the buffet breakfasts, feasting on fruit, and cereals, followed by a cooked breakfast and then muffins and croissants.
