Used the KL underground and monorail systems today which were both great: modern, clean, safe and easy to use. They were also wonderfully cool, with air conditioning, which was very welcome indeed as this was again a hot and humid day.
Walked around the old colonial region of KL. Lots of character in the old buildings and quite a contrast to the many modern skyscrapers that towered over them. By chance arrived at Merdeka (Independence) square when six Malaysian cavalrymen were performing synchronised routines with their horses whilst they were accompanied by a Malaysian military band playing British marches. It all seemed very familiar and, I guess, it has changed very little from the days of British colonial rule in this part of the world.
Also visited a Muslim mosque, a Hindu temple and a Taoist temple. Fascinating experiences.
Chilled out at the hotel in the afternoon, enjoying the air conditioning, the swimming pool, the Nespresso machine and other little luxuries prior to our transfer to KL airport.
