Yesterday we went to zoo negara and the batu caves. Going anywhere involves flagging taxi and making sure they go by meter.we had no Idea what direction we were headed in most of the time. The zoo was big but run down in parts, all the usual sorts of animals but felt sorry for those animals that were really not in the right environment eg penguins. We spent about 3.5 hrs wondering around then went off to the batu caves.
The caves are really really enormous. There is a huge golden statue at the entrance and 272 steps to climb, then it opens out. Into a ginormous cavern we took lots of photos so David will download them.
In the evening we went into kl to a huge shopping mall that was rather flash. Then we went and had some dinner along where all the food vendor stalls are. That was a very interesting experience and very tasty food. We ate pork belly, stingray, satay with rice and veges. Of course then had to flag a taxi home. This took 3 tries before we got one.
