Day 2 Nha trang, Day 12 of my tour and already 2000Km down the coast of Vietnam.
Weather is still pretty poor although there was only a few spots of rain today. Just a couple of hours left in Nha trang before another overnight bus to Saigon.
Had a great day today, went to the Thap ba hot springs, could have gone on a trip for only $9 but i decided i needed an adventure and hired another motorbike. I'm sure they were taking the p-ss when i got a pink helmet and there were more than a few honks of the horn as i gingerly made my way through the traffic?.The bike for the day is less than $3 and the spring is only 5Km away, it's not well signposted so i spent a good hour dodging oncoming cars, bikes, lorries, people, dogs (there are more obsticles!) but it's all about the experience. If your going, take the very first small street on the left passed the cham towers (best to drive on the wrong side of the road - well everyone else does so who cares), otherwise you'll never make it
The potholes are deep on the last 2Km and it can't be called a road and with the rain there was a few times i thought the wheel would drop off and i would be left with a huge bill.
The springs are good and i certainly feel the cleanest i've been since the start. First is a spring mineral shower followed by a mud bath, i got a bath to myself for 15 minutes and you just float around the tub. Next is a hot tub of mineral water, nice and warm, last you can use the waterfall and pool. The main pool is 38 degrees and perfect on a day like today.
I think 2-3 hours is more than enough time, had a fab lunch of fresh prawns, straight out the water onto the grill, with a tiger beer and rice. Not cheap by Asia standards but at $4 great value for me. I found a local street cafe, as you come from the Cham towers, instead of taking a right over the bridge back to town, take a left up the hill and theres about 4-5 street cafe's.
So Nha trang has been a chill out and breather for me, it's a beach town and with the weather not being so good i've just relaxed and had some excellent food. It's now back to the real madness of the city and Saigon. In fact i'm really excited about picking it up a gear and getting back into the hustle and bustle of the city - it really gives me a buzz.
Bye for now
