East Coast
So we decide to getting up the first part of the coast quickly, to see some friends and find some warmth. Our first stop after Syndey was Hawks Nest, Lennox Head, Byron Bay and Surfer Paradise.
We had friends in Noosa and the surf was good so we stayed for a week. Noosa is a wicked set up that incorporates a national park into the local town. We were sleeping in the national park car park which luckily had all the facilities we could ask for. We got pretty quickly into van life living on daylight hours, so yes we were up by 6am and normally asleep by 8pm. We pretty much lived the beach life in Noosa surfing for a few hours each day and generally chilling out.
We then drove a few hours up to Rainbow Beach, where we met the other 28 people that would be going over to Fraser Island at the same time as us and more importantly the other 8 that would be in our car for the trip. We were on a self drive tour so we really got to explore the Island, with the highlights being Lake Mckenzie with crystal clear blue water, Indian head where we sat watching whales, sharks and dolphins, and finally Lake Wabby which was surrounded by the biggest sand dune I have ever seen. This exploring did come at a price though, to get to these places you have to do some serious off roading and cross some streams, and we did manage to get stuck a fair few times but with a team of ten to hop out and push it was pretty easy to get moving again. We were lucky with the guys in our group being really nice and all up for a good time, during the day and night!!! Whats better than a few cold beers on the beach.
After a few days of partying on Fraser Island we decide it was time to go and chill out somewhere, and on the advice of other we went to a place called The Town of Seventeen Seventy, this is where Capt Cook landed for the second time in 1770. A few mates from the Fraser Island group came with us and we all regrouped and recharged for our next trip sailing around the Whitsunday Island. However before we did that there was the small issue of the twelve hour drive to Airlie Beach where we set sail from.
Next stop Cairns and diving in The Great Barrier Reef
Thats all for now folks,
Photos coming soon
