We are now in Adelaide after doing a fantastic 3 day trip along the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne to Adelaide. There was 23 on the trip so a few more than our Tassie trip!! And 2 wicked tour guides! Such a mixure of people- french, americans, canadians and mainly germans but we were the only 2 english!! It was a good group thought and we all had a good 3 days together.
We started the Great Ocean Road stopping at Torquay!! for breakfast and then the offical start to get photos of the sign! We continued to drive along the coastline and stopped for lunch in Apollo Bay a picnic on the beach. Our next stop was Otway Fly Tree Top walk where you can walk through the trees on platforms from 15-47 metres high, quite scary that high up! Next we stopped to see some koalas in the wild sleeping in the trees so cute! We then drove to the 12 Apostles in time for sunset.
The next morning we continued along the great ocean road and saw the arch, london bridge, the bay of martyrs and bay of islands all rocks that have broken away from the coastline. We then drove into the Grampians National Park where we hiked up The Pinnacle a 2.1K climb up to the top!! It was hard work and very hot but worth it as the views were amazing. We then stopped at Reeds Lookout where we saw the sunset again.
First stop today was Mackenzie Falls a beautiful waterfall. We then had another hike to do up Hollow Mountain only 1.2K this time!! It was a really good climb as the second half of the walk wasnt on a path you just had to climb over rocks and boulders sometimes very near to the edge but we all made it to the top and back down again with no one falling off! Hard work as very hot again but worth the climb to see the views. We then had a long drive into Adelaide. Once we had arrived and showered we all met up for drinks in the bar as the first drink was on the tour guied! Ideal!! Had a good night out some people had a few too many but we were very sensible of course!
Yesterday we went to the beach here in Adelaide as it was such a nice day and so hot. Its in Glenelg a 30 min tram ride so we went there for the afternoon and again watched another sunset. Adelaide is so warm at night, its so much hotter here than melbourne and sydney. We fly to Perth in a few hours later today to travel the west coast so we'll write again when get there.
