So day 2 of our trip took us into the altiplano, which is the largest area of high plateau in the world after Tibet. After a few days of hanging around in Uyuni we finally got our chance to head off on our 3 day trip into the Southwest of Bolivia. We met our fellow trip conpanions, 2 Columbians and 2 Austrians. On the 30th December we jumped on a bus from Tupiza to our next stop Uyuni. This is the starting point for the worlds largest salt flats and also our gateway to Chile. We saved the worse, most uncomfortable bus journey for last. Only 6.5 hours long but the most bumpy, scary and dangerous. After sadly bidding farewell to beautiful Sucre and a unusually uneventful 10 hour bus journey we arrived in the little town of Tupiza. Christmas this year was always going to be different, the fact that for the first time ever Dave and Emily would be away from family and friends.
