VIENTIANE
We all decided that we were sick of travelling long journeys by Bus so we decided to Hire out Kayake's to travel from Vang Vieng to Vientiane which was normally a 5 hour Journey. This was the best way to travel, got picked up in a Tuk Tuk then went to the river to sail down the Rappids.
When we got to the start we all had to put life-jackets & helmets on & we were all taught how to capsize / safety procedures so I thought this could be tough. We all had two man Kayake's except Brad & Phil as they thought they were professionals - haha. I shared with Tom & I bet he regrets it cos we capcized about 3 times in the first 10 mins - haha but was really refreshing & a good laugh.
It was not an intense trip or hard work we just floated down the rappids & river (falling off a few times whilst trying to surf) for a few hours then stopped off for a BBQ lunch on a cliff. We did some Cliff Diving into the River which was nice & the grub was also ok. After floating down the river for another few hours we got a Tuk Tuk to Vientiane.
On the night we all just went for food next to the River then headed to the Pool Bar which shut at 11pm so ended up at the Bowling Alley again as this was open till we left - haha. I have not done as much bowling in the last 4 weeks as I have in my lifetime - haha. What you do for extra Beers after Pubs close! I won anyways because of all my Practice - haha!
We went swimming the next day & after walking around the place they was not much more to do so we booked our ticket on the Sleeper Bus to Pakse for the same night. The Spicy Bar & Full Moon Bar were probably the best Bars to go to on the Night with Happy Hour Cocktails.
Me, Brad & Anthony went on the Slepper Bus to Pakse (South Laos) which was amazing to travel long journeys. The Bus just had Beds on it & we got lucky as we had the Back row so we just played cards for a bit & fell asleep for the 10 hour journey.
We left Phil, Tom (both going to Chang Mai), Bella (back to Bangkok for work) Tyson & Ferrer were meeting at the Four Thousand Islands the next day.
To be continued............its 7.15pm & I'm off to meet Brad, Kat & Lisa for food & Beers. Will update you on the Four Thousand Islands & Cambodia soooon!!
