We booked a Flight with Lion Air for 44 squids which was far cheaper than going by land & Sea across Sumatra & Jackarta.
We went to Kuta as this was the Best Surfing in Bali & the Cheapest place to stay / eat / drink & was 5 squid a night with 2 Pools & Breakfast included. No not a crap place had our own Balcony & everything...
We hired a Moped for 3 days & went everywhere around Kuta to Tanah Lot Temple for Sunset, Uluwatu Beach, Nusa Pua Beach (south) for Surfing & Sanur (best Beach in Bali on East Coast).
The First Night there we said we were gunna have a quiet night & just get some food & go to the Volcanoes & Lakes up North the next day but did it happen.......?????
A big Fat NO!! We ended up getting involved in the Centre & went to about 4 different Clubs knocking out shapes on the Dancefloor!! Some really cool places & we both didn't sleep in our own beds that night which was hillarious......so much for a quiet night getting home the next day in the afternoon!! That day we were both ruff so we went Surfing on Kuta Beach to get over our Hangovers. I'd done surfing most Sundays when my Parents used to take us to Saltburn back home when we were kids but this was different. Big Waves, hung over & nearly drowning. Only could stand on the Board for a bit but no major manouvers. Gunna take a few lessons in Australia@ to get the correct tequnique.
After a few days we went to Ubud which was the middle of Bali & a good base to visit the Volcanoes & Lakes.
Ubud itself is an Artistic / Cultural Village but the quietest place we had been to & only a few Restaurants & bars open but we managed to find the Busiest one with Live Band & it was packed & all the Americans were really going for it. We had a busy day the next one so had an early night!! Argasoka Bungalows were recommended from a friend in Bali @ 60,000 IDR which were cool in the gardens & were the Cheapest!!
The Drive through the Rainforest the next day to the Lakes & Volcanoes were beautiful with lush green Rice Fields & Terraces. Only problem was that we got pulled by the Coppers for speeding & doing wheelies.....no not really they wanted to see our International Biking Licence which we didn't have so they were going to Fine us 200 pounds on the spot but we played dumb as if we didn't know & slipped them 60,000 Indonisian Rup which is 4 pounds - happy days!!
That day we went to Mount Batur, Lake Batur where we had Lunch on the Floating Restaraunt/ Kintamani / Singaraja / Mt Agun which is a live Volcanoe (& it erupted 2 years earlier & killed loads so a tad scary & dangerous but you take risks at times). The Scenery going through was amazing just driving mainly up or down the Mountains around Bends & only seen a few people on the way!! We were the only White people Biking around the Island & when the Locals seen us in the Villages they were surprised but happy to see us. Everyone was looking at us as if we were Aliens but that was cool cos Anthony is one - haha!!
I biked that day for about 8 hours & loved every minute of it, on the way back I stopped at Lake Bratan in Bedugul which had a Temple in the Centre of the lake & the Sunset behind...hard to describe!!
It only cost us 30,000 IDR which was 2 pounds + petrol costs of about 15,000 so 3 quid for the full day out....one of the cheapest & best !!
Bali is .........................unreal & defo recommend to everyone!!
