Got a great wee bus journey from Vietnam into Cambodia - driver slams on the breaks, but a little too late and we crash into the btruck in front. No casulties or much damage just that funnh feeling of being pulled forward. So we had to wait for about an hour on the by pass, sweating out butts off until the police came and took a report - once the police left the driver burned the report anyway. Pretty easy border crossing and then the adventure began. - word of warning to any readers, we done the cultural bit in 2009 and therefore no cultural exploits will follow in this blog :-)
Sihanoukville
We met a guy called Dan on the bus and he tagged along to our hostel which was right on the beach and had loads of pubs and restaurants beside it. EXCEPT IT WASNT AND IT NEVER AGH!! It was in tyne middle.of nowhere and nothing close by, we didn't have any money at this point so our new pal Dan was funding the tuk tuk journey. We asked the driver to take us somewhere near the beach with a good atmosphere and then we basically hit the drink for a week, ooops! We found a hostel for $2 a night and 25¢ beers, met a couple of french canadian girls in our room and partied the night away. The next day when we eventually woke up, we realised everyone had deserted us in the middle of the night cause our awesome dorm was infested with bed bugs. They obviously didn't fancy us cause we escaped untouched but we weren't gonna risk it again so moved to a $1 room minus the air con and bed bugs woo hoo!
While I was still recovering Darren made a new pal in the form of a big American bearded man called Kerry. By the time I got up they two were a.bit worse for wear so I just joinednthem incase I missed out. We hung about with Kerry for a couple of days before heading to the island Koh Rong for my birthday.
Koh Rong
Koh Rong is still a relatively new spot to visit and righg now still 75% undeveloped - plans approved and work about to begin on a luxury complex, resort, casino, golf course and airport, so it will be no more in a few years. The island was beautiful but as it was cambodian new year we walked the length of the beach and couldn't find a place to stay, but then we got lucky. After some reshuffling a top bunk was freed.up for us to share and even included 3 free beers. We met a group of irish gjys and english girls on the boat on the way over and spent the next few days with them. Everyone of them was lovely and one guy Neil was an unconscious comedian making a fun few days too.
Three gorgeous wee cambodian girls came up to us in the water and we spent a couple of hours having water fights with them and throwing them into the water. They were so cute and couldn't get enough of it, clambering up us like wee monkeys to throw them again. Then headed back to Sihanoukville for a couple of.days recovery and to catch the bus to Thailand.
Love you long time x x x
