Darla's Travels
hello to all supporting and very far away family and friends!
well so much has happened since i last wrote. its very hard to keep this thing updated when it costs money to use the internet and when im catching trains and whatnot.
i am now in lucerne switzerland.yesterday i bought a ticket from paris to zurich and once in zurich i had to figure out how to get from there to kleindottingen, a very small town with no trainstation. i tried to call to person (anya) that i was going to meet, but the phones in switzerland require a special phone card that i do not have and didnt know how to buy. but a nice german speaking indian man who knew about 10 words in english helped me out, lent me his cell phone, showed me where to buy tickets etc. soon i was on my way again, but it was just as scary when i missed one of my trains by about 30 seconds, and i was once again a lonely, non german spweaking girl wandering aimlessley around the platform no. 4 in the evening sun. but i found a man that actually lives in kleindottingen and spoke very good english and totally helped me out. i was supposed to meet anya on the bridge over the river between dottingen and kleindottingen (a five minute walk) and i strolled along to wait. there was a sunset down the river that was incredible and the weather was impeccable and i was totally content. it was not long that my friend and her two brothers came stolling up to escort me to the home they also were visiting. the people were exceptionally nice and i feel i have made new friends. today me and anya and her 2 brothers and one of the people we were staying with and his friend drove up to the mountains to go exploring. i just need to say that those who have hiked colorado have seen some incredible things. but standing at the base of the swiss alps, towering like rocky dragons into grey, foggy clouds, the eerie sound of cow bells knocking in the distance-- well there is nothing like it. not to mention that the company was amazing. we climbed directly up the side of one of the mountains, the pure green of the low growing mountain flowers cleaved with piles of rocks carried down in veins from melting snow. it was an indescribable experience. after our adventures, much to my joy, i got a ride to the lucerne train station rather than having to find my way, to meet tegan. the only proble was that i was half an hour late for her train and i was afraid i wouldnt be able to find her. once again i found myself for the 4th? 5th time? searching for some sign of something to help me where everything was in german. i wandered dismayed into an internet cafe hoping it might provide me with perhaps a few clues since i couldnt telephone anyone. i was secretly hoping i would run into tegan there, but then i thought no thatd be too easy. i plopped down at computer no. 10, and thought that the blond hair next to me could be tegan then i thought no, her hair istn that long. about 3 minutes later, someone to my right exclaims >DARLA! and i whipped around to see tegan arising from to computer next to me.
now all we have to do is find our beds.
i will try to write again soons. i am almost out of time. good night and i love you all!
