Darla's Travels
Alors! Nous nous sommes arrivé à Paris!
this keyboard is very differently arranged, so bare with me
what adventures we have had already!
i cannot possibly relatez them all because that would take too long, but i will do ,y best to sum up.
after long journeys by plane, we all eventually reconciled (me and my group) and stayed one night at a slightly less than desirable hostel. we decided that something needed to change.
also, navigating the chests for our performance through the city is az bit of a challenge. we can take them on the metros, but usually only if the gate keepers there like us and open up the special big door for us, and also if we dont run into any "green vests" as we call them.
probably the ,osty difficult thing we have experienced thus far is try to navigate ourselves ho,;e though an unfar, iliar territory RIGHT after france beat portugal in the world cup. they are now going to be in the finals on sunday, and the enthusiastic parisiens, as they like to do, were al,ost rioting out of happiness in the streets. horns honking, people shouting beating drums, setting off fireworks, speeding down the streets flying the french flag, metro trains beeping as they pulled to a stop to the roaring passengers at each stop. it was pretty insane. but thankfully, after literally hours of dragging our heavy chests and walking and metroing and avoiding pickpockets and all such things, we arrived at what is now our new home. let me explain:
we have a house!
yes, an actual house! gaelyn has a sort of distant friend here that he got into contact with who is trying to sell his house and he is letting us stay there for free.
it is about a 15 or 30 minutes metro ride from downtown which isnt so bad considering parius is HUGE! it is in a pretty ok area, lower middle class but it is very big! it has a ground floor, a basement thats finished, a third floor, a loft, and in the back is an overgrown little courtyard with a little guest house in the back. it is very veryt awesome and it means that we are saving lots o money.
we did our first street performance today. it wasnt a huge success, mainly because we need to learn how to street perform. but we are going to do another today and do better. even still we made about 45 or 50 euros which is enough to buy dinner and more mtro passes for everyone.
anyway i have to go but i will try to write again soon.
amicalement,
darla
