Koh Lanta is probably one of the most remote places we would encounter on our travels. Largely undeveloped this small island is still unscathed by the large fast food and other chains that we found in the other places we had been so far. Koh Lanta is most memorable to me for two reasons: Mae's cooking and the dogs. We ate at Mae's A LOT. When we travel we like to try new restaurants everyday but this was definitely not on our minds at all. Owned by family related to some of the staff at our hotel, Mook Lanta, this restaurant had some of the best Thai food we ate on our trip. The other highlight to my time on Koh Lanta was our visit to the Animal Welfare. Funded 100% by donations and profits from a local cooking school, volunteers and vets from all over the world come here to volunteer their time. After a tour by an amazing gal from Australia we were allowed to take a few of the doggies for a walk.
