Blog Day 28 Fri 3rd June 2011
Today we are up very early to leave Port Elizabeth & head onto Chintsa which is along the Wild Coast.
We arrive at Buccaneers Backpackers early afternoon after an extremely bumpy ride & the place is stunning, we now know why this is called the Wild Coast. We chill out for a bit & then get a knock on the door asking if we would like to go on a free Sundowner trip to the beach to watch the sunset, its free & there’s free wine so who are we to decline!
We met a lovely girl called Delphine on the Baz bus on the way here & we get chatting to her, she is French & is here touring some of Africa on a break from working up in the Kruger Park volunteering for a couple of weeks & she will also be heading onto the same places as us in the next few days.
Now as we said before the roads are awful & the shuttle ride to the beach is no exception resulting on Trish smashing her head on the ceiling but she is not damaged & an extra glass of wine comes her way so she is happy!
We eventually reach our drop of destination & start our walk on the beach up & down continuous sand dunes, it looks like the sun is setting on the other side of the beach & we are going to miss it so we head up another huge sand dune & just over look onto the beach, watching the waves coming in. Johan a guy who came with us starts playing guitar & harmonica we all sing along, it makes us think of how cool Simon would think that this moment is. After walking back in almost pitch blackness trying to dodge washed up jellyfish we start up the fire to do our very own first Braii. While Dan gets the fire going Trish prepares the cheese & veg sarnies. It turns out amazingly & the sandwiches are a definite winner.
Blog Day 29 Sat 4th June 2011
Today we enjoy the sun as we haven’t really had it this warm as of yet, so we head down to the beach to make the most of it in the daylight. The beach itself is gorgeous & as we walk along we come across wedding that is being set up, we venture into what happens to be a lovely but huge hotel & see all the wedding guests having pre wedding drinks in all their smart dresses & shirts, we stroll past in our shorts & vests but they all still say hello. We think it would be rude to hang around so we find our way out of the hotel eventually & head to the only shop in this area to have a look around. We pop into a place called the Barefoot Café for a beer & then make our way back along the beach to the hostel to do early Braii. Sandwiches again it is!
