First of all, thank you everyone for posting messages on our message board. It makes us feel like we're still connected with everyone even though we cannot hear your voices :) I know yesterday's post was short...the hostel we're staying in is very busy and it was extremely hard to use the computer with the entire hostel hopping, and it so happens that our room is the lot of people that go to bed before 12am....Go Figure!
Today was a good day. Although we started off a bit...hungover...we jumped on board the Dachau concentration camp memorial tour. It was intense. The tour lasted about 4.5 hours, but there wasn't much down time. At every corner, at ever spot we were standing, someone had been before us, and most likely have died. Recorded, there were 206,206 prisoners in Dachau, and almost have of them were killed. It was a very moving experience for us, as well as educational. We took many pictures at the camp so that everyone back home would be able to see what we walked through....don't expect a happy-go-lucky album from today, because it's not!
We returned from Dachau around 4 o'clock in the afternoon. We defenitely needed a pick-me-up after this tour....so we quickly grabbed a bite to eat, withdrew some money, and headed off to meet Jaime and her parents so we could celebrate Munich's 850th birthday!!! The celebration was a typical German Fest! Men and women were in there "dress." Leigh kept threatening me that she was going to buy a Lederhousen(spelling?) and make me wear it all day....it would have been terrible!!!! Anyway, we took the U-bahn to Jaime's apartment, it was quite nice, then we walked to Marien Platz (the location of the fest). It was a nice walk, several good pictures were taken....except the batteries died right as we walked up to the Bavarian parliment building. Danny was soo upset. (Leigh says that Danny is turning into his mother!!...Darned Japanese tourist!!!) So a little further we came to Marien Platz where we quickly grabbed a table, we would spend the rest of the night here...mostly. We had several beers....no telling how many....also we met up with one of the nice guys we met from last night at the Aussie bar, Mick (an irishman...Hilarious!!!) and his wife and kid. It was a lot of fun. We ate Bratswursts, Doners, Steak Sandwiches, Currywursts, some bread thing that I can't remember its name but it was good! It was Awesome!!!! Around 11 o'clock Jaime's parents called it a night and the young ones went to one of the local irish bars. We had a few drinks there and said it was enough! Hurray for Guiness!!! (btw, Danny is up to 15 different types of beers!!)
Tomorrow we are doing a four hour bike tour around Munich...supposedly it's one of the better tours in the city. At night we are doing the Beer Challenge....we pay 12 euros and they take us around to 4 different beer gardens and give us an hour of free drinks and 3 free shots....Oh boy, it's going to be a fun night!!!! We'll keep you posted. We will upload the photos from Munich early Monday morning, so late Sunday night for all of you!! We're having a fantastic time over here!! Just in case you didn't know it!!! :)
