Hello, its been ages since I wrote a blog, so here we go! Last time we wre in Thailand, Ko Phi Phi (which seems so long ago now) so from there we went to Ko Phang Ngan which was really good, then to the slightly disapointing Ko Samui, but still got some great photo's and was still worth going to, don't get me wrong! Then from there, we got a long bus down to Hat Yai, which is really not worth mentioning to be honest, before we got a bus the following day down to the Malaysia Border on the east coast, and then a 'Teksi' down into Kota Bharu!
Okay, so Kota Bharu, was such a massive shock, according to our guide books and the internet, a great place, with alot of culture and a bit of a transport hub and stop over place. Which is pretty much all it is, other than the 'great place' part. It has its share of grotty hostels, which we looked at and swiftly moved on, and finally found a decent little budget hotel called 'Persona Inn' which really was the highlight of our trip to Kota Bharu. So after a few days of gathering ourselves and getting some clothes finally washed, we decided to get a teksi down to the docks and head over to the Perhentian Islands, which was well worth the hardships of Kota Bharu!
Okay, so we paid the 70rm each to get a speed boat, which took about 15-20minutes to take us to Perhentian Kecil, which is the smaller of the 2 islands, surrounded by limestone cliffs and stunning blue waters, we couldn't be further away from the smog of Kota Bharu! When we arrived at the harbour on the perfect picturesque beach, the first sight we saw was the crystal clear waters, with swarms of tiny black fish surrounding the artificial looking boulders which were scattered around the harbour area. The weather was scorching, and the beach was empty, which is how it stayed for the 3 days we stayed there for! We would have happily stayed there alot longer, if not for the boats stopping running as it was the end of the season and many of the places shut down for the so called 'rain season', which we saw non of! We stayed in a chalet called Moonshine Chalet's, which was very basic, with the electricity only running from 6pm-8am, but in a place like that, there was little need to stay in the room! The perhentians were extremely cheap to do a dive, only cost us 60rm to do one, which is about 10gbp, and has some of the best diving in the country, unfortunitly being the end of the season, rain had been falling over night, so the visability could have been better at times, but was still an amazing experience!

So after the Perhentians, we went over to Penang, which was really cool! Felt really good to be in a tourist area again, we stayed in Love lane, which despite the name, was a good choice, as the hostels down there were safe and clean and cheap, which was all we wanted. We stayed in 'Love Lane Inn' which had a nice atmosphere and the lady in the reception was very helpful! After a few days in George Town, we got a cockroach infested boat over to Langkawi, where we stayed for about a week! The beaches and weather were really really good, however, it was alot more expensive food wise, compared to the main land, as there is alot of big resorts there, so we basically ate at the same pizza place every night, as they had cheap burgers and sandwiches on offer! We stayed in Pantai Cenang, which has one of the best beaches, but we did find one at the north end of the island, which was stunning, and empty, but i can't remember what it was called!

Anyways, after all that, we went back to penang and finally to where we are now, in KL! We have been in Kuala Lumpur for about 2 weeks now i think, as trying to avoid spending much time in singapore as its so expensive in comparison!

KL is really impressive, its so nice to be somewhere modern and almost civilized! The Petronas Towers are extremly impressive, and this morning we woke up early to finally go and do the free sky bridge visit, which ment getting up at 6am, which is very very early for us! But was well worth it, you get ushered up to the 41'st floor in the very speedly lift, and aloud 10mins to wonder around the platform area, where you get a stunning view of the whole city. Definatly worth the effort! Also yesterday, we went to the Batu caves, which turned out to be a nice cheap day, taking the bus only cost us 2rm, for a 45minute journey, and we had the pleasure of english music the whole way which was a nice touch! When we arrived we got a glimps of the huge golden statue that stares down at the bottom of the 272 steps to the caves, as did the group of monkeys which started chucking empty cans down the steps (just as friendly as malaysians!), So once we made the top, the caves are really quite impressive, despite the tacky souvenier shop and temples dotted around the entrance and inside. Again, it was well worth the visit, and another good free attraction, which is what we like!

Its very weird the city being done up in christmas lights and not freezing your nuts off! But does look very impressive at night! The KL Monorail is a really good way to getting round too, as it goes to some of the tourist places, cheaply and quickly. It also takes you directly into the HUGE mall which also has a huge hotel attacted where we have seen several helicopters land, which is quite a sight! The mall itself,is the largest in south east asia, which as you can imagen, its prity big! But also has a nice cinema in it, so we have been keeping up to date with all the new releases!

Chinatown is mad, very very busy, but has a really good market, where we have done quite a bit of shopping, basically just selling the same fake tshirts, dvd's and watches but its still fun! Our hostel is literally about 1minute away, and is really good, only 32rm a night, and has a nice bar on the roof where we get breakfast. The only downside has been the annoying americans that decided to have a 4person, but very noisy 'gathering' next door to us, which kept us awake all night! Nearly as annoying as scousers! We were on the otherhand very disapointed with Little india, as there were just a handfull of stalls surrounded by malaysians and indians eating, and not alot else, which was very annoying after a 30min walk!

Anyways, sorry its not a very good blog, i will try and keep on top of things now that this catch up one is done! Leaving for singapore in 2 days, then off to Australia on monday, CAN'T WAIT! Hope you are all ok, miss you all loads! Be in touch soon x
