Tassie Devil Day 1 - Hobart to Strahan
We started our Tassie Devil tour early this morning (picked up at 6.30 am!!) or as we were soon to find out, our 'Taste of Tasmania' tour, as it was actually called! We were in a group of 21 people, from all over the world including Japan, France, Germany, Holland, Italy and one girl who was half German, half Scottish! on the way to the first stop i was sat next to a japanese girl who kept falling asleep on my shoulder - annoying!
The first place we stopped was to walk to Russel falls, but we couldn't actually do the walk we were supposed to because there had been a bush fire so they wouldn't let us drive up there. So we walked to the falls a different way and it was worth it cos it was lovely. Oh and we also stotted some Pademelons (which are like wallabies) on the way.
After the falls we went to lake St. Clair which is the deepest lake in Australia, and we walked to it and then along the shore, even though it was chucking it down with rain. The weather on the east coast is rubbish - its a lot like being at home, except if the weather was that bad at home you wouldn't go for a nice walk around a lake! We saw a couple more waterfalls and rivers on the way to Strahan (where we spent the night) but i won't bore you with them!
The house we stayed in was lovely, it was wooden and painted blue and white and had a nice common area and comfy beds. much nicer than any of the hostels we've stayed in so far. Also, we found out that we were given food as part of the tour, which we didn't realise. Tonight we had chicken stir fry, with home made chocolate cake for dessert! Before and after dinner we played cards with the two dutch guys, Will and Nick.
