After meeting the rest of our group in Cuzco we went out for lunch and spent the day looking around and getting to know each other. The following morning we were up early and set off to a local village where we learnt about the Inca culture. Afterwards we drove to the Sacred Valley which is where we got to see some Inca Ruins, but also the main point, have a practice walk ready for the trek ahead. It wasnt as bad as we were expected luckily, yet something tells us that it isnt a true representation of what we´ll be facing =s
The Inca Trail (separate blog)
Back in Cuzco after the Inca Trail, the people left from our group decided to go out for tea at the Inka Grill restaurant and decided to have the famous ´cuyo´ aka guinea pig! At first we were abit jubious, half expecting it to come out as a whole creature, just fried! But luckily it didnt, it came out in small portions and despite it being really fatty, it tasted quite good (similar to rabbit).
We said bye to the group and went to the Point Hostel that we had checked into earlier that day. If you´re ever in Cuzco you should definately stay here, it was really cool and had a good atmosphere. This is where we spent the next few days partying it up with locals and other travellers. We would stay in the hostel until about 12 then head to one of the many local clubs, we loved these mainly because you didnt spend a penny! Guys would be outside giving out free drinks vouchers to get you inside and if you played it well (like we did) after you ran out you went back outside and spoke to them again to get some more, it was awesome! Needless to say the daytimes werent very productive, getting to bed near lunchtime kind of wipes it out of you =)
We will definately be back in Cuzco, but for the moment we think that us having to move on is a blessing in disguise, our bodies were contemplating a divorce!!
