Allo Allo! Thought I'd send a quickie as I haven't for quite a while, been so busy! Went to the Big Day Out Festival in Southport, just south of Brisbane. It was on a work day so I hired a car the previous day in order to leave the site and get there in time for the Darkness (who're from Lowestoft, and are brilliant!). Incredibly hot and sunny with an impressive line up, made for quite a day! The Mars Volta were something else, I've seen bands and been in a few, but what they were doing was new! Haven't told y'all about the sun-rise over the rainforest, have I!! Every morning about 4am, the sky pops to a cold metal blue, (you have to imagine that the forest is being bathed with the different colors of light) then it goes vannila white, to caramel khaki, to peach melba (orange forest!!!), to thick-blood red, then as the sun pops over the trees we get the full effect of light, heat, blue and yellow! Quite amazing and worth the cash to get here to see! We've finnished the German version of the show (Ich Bin Ein Star! Holt Mich Hier Raus!!) and are into the Pomme Run (Catch it 9pm GMT, ITV1 & 2). Not gripping viewing (like all reality TV) but when the draw bridge comes down with smoke, its great (I do the smoke!)!! The celebs, along with the show are quite tabloid, but the lights are amazing, as well as knackering! Jonny Rotten has managed to impress everyone, as we all thought he'd walk out after day one. But he's survived the ostrich pit and is the only one who keeps the fire alight at nite. There MIGHT be a french version in Oct at a different venue.....so watch this space. The weather at the mo is luvly, 30-39deg C, clear skies, UV Index 16 (Extreme)...... not missing the Brit winter much!! There's a Surfing Competeition, part of the world circuit in a couple of weeks, just dahn the road!! So will get lotsa shots of the worlds best Surfers for y'all, they look amazing! Rang Mum this morning (4pm GMT, 2am QLD), which was luvly. Will ring again next Tue (My B'Day!!). Oh yeah, Lant? I know you've got enough to think about, packing/flights etc, but if you remember, could you bring my RYA Log book with you, It's in my green folder in with my paperwork in the garage. Its not that important, it's just that I could use it to get on big yachts in Sydney.!! Just a thought......! Lotsaluv to all you cold pommies, have a Guiness and snuggle up!! It wont be long!! Danxxx
