So the end of another year had arrived and we were planning a night out in Brisbane to make it memorable. We did the necessary task of stocking up the fridge for pre drinks and met Owen off the train where we were surprised by our friend Kate from Newcastle who ha joined us for the celebrations.

Owen had naturally gained a few more items in his hair since we last saw him - a banana, additional feathers and a Chinese coin (obvious imperative additions). We spent a few hours playing some games and having some drinks with our Canadian friends before catching the train to Brisbane.

We got into a venue to see the new year in a considerable amount of time before most of you fine folk and made the usual phone calls to loved ones back home. Spirits were high and we spent the next few hours laughing and drinking the night away as inevitably the numbers dwindled until there were just a few of the "hardcore" left. We went to a snazzy cocktail bar for a more "quiet" atmosphere (not being a fan of the typical club music) before making the decision to head for the beach come park that was supposedly 24 hours. Turns out our locals guidance let us down and after the realisation (and hours walk) that it was closed we retired for some much needed sleep at Sef and Voy's apartments.

In the morning we regrouped, grabbed some sobering coffee with breakfast and headed back for Southport and "home" where we could revitalise in the hot tub!
