So I arrived in Melbourne hoping to forget the past four days of nothing-ness. I landed into a field of grey clouds, cold breeze and rain, had I landed back home I thought? Nope, I was in Melbourne! I have been here 4 days now and I can honestly say, I quite like it. Yes it has the usual big city feel to it - tall buildings, people rushing about - but I liked it, it did remind me of home a bit. The 1st day I met up with a friend of mine Chris and he and his mate (also called chris) showed me round town. Melbourne seems to cater for everyone, it really does, Sydney has the glitz (or so people like to think) but this place has something different about it, just not sure what, lol. We were out for a few hours, and I was being shown the where to go and where not to go parts of the town were, oh and we drvoe on the F1 route, Oooo how exciting, lol, no but it was kind of cool, not everyday you get to drive on an actual race F1 track, needless to say we werent going as fast as the real cars do. As night drew in we were thinking what to do, I then suddenly had an idea, how about we go to Ramsey street and get a photo taken under the ramsey street sign, but, not any old photo, not your typical "look at me im a tourist thats just paid outta my ass to have a picture taken under this piece of plastic" type photo, uh uh, more of a "we dont comply to this kinda stuff" photo, yep we thought to moony under it and take a photo. So, we drove 45 minutes out to the street, we thought that with it being dark and all, it would be easy to walk up to the sign and get the picture - nope we were wrong! We pulled up and began to walk over to the blocked off road when a security guy came out "You here for THE STREET" (haha THE STREET, like its real cool) we were like yeah can we go in, nope its shut! At that point I had to mention I was from the uk and have come a long way to be here (hadnt really but you know we really wanted this photo) none the less, he wasnt having any of it and we left, mission failed!! Neighbours 1 Anti-Neighbours 0. So we began to drive back and were kind gutted that we had been stumped by a some power tripping security guard that likes to sit in his car, in the dark for 12 hour shifts, what to do? It was then that the other chirs told me about another street where every year, every house along it goes way way way over the top with the christmas lights on the outside, glowing santas and all that malarky - perfect, we bagan to make our way there, haha. We pulled up and well either someone didnt turn the switches on or this year they were late setting it all up, just a few houses had the over the top lights on (having all this lighting is such as waste of energy, seriously - ok im sounding all hippy now, but you know what i mean). So we thoughtright screw this, wandered upto the front gate (getting more and more blinded by the lights as we got closer) and mooned - have that energy wasters!! lol. I will upload the picture we took so you can see. Anyway, after that we just headed back to town, laughing like little kids who had done something wrong, were we bored? erm maybe, was it funny? erm yes, haha.
Good times!
Daniel
