Day 58- Thur 6th It was another early start this morning as we were up waiting at the greyhound stop by 7.30am.It was only a two hour bus journey to Newcastle where we would be staying for one night. Newcastle was a small town but it was what I would describe as new with a few big developments being built near the wharf. It was quiet as we walked through the streets to the YHA hostel. This hostel was just as nice as the one in the Blue Mountains, it had a really big lounge area full of old leather sofas and a tv area. We were a bit early so had to wait a while before checking in. We had a 4 bed room which was nice as we had been sharing rooms for over a week. We literally dumped our bags in the room and went to the beach. We spent the whole day sunbathing and i got slightly sunburnt. The waves here were huge and the lifeguards were constantly on the PA system telling people to swim between the flags and to stop going into the rip. In the evening we went to a local bar which had put on a free BBQ for all the hostels nearby. It seemed that each night there was always free meals somewhere for backpackers which was great. The BBQ was good and afterwards they organised a quiz for everyone which our team failed miserably in. There was a band playing afterwards but they werent great so we left!
