As I sit here typing my first entry for my blog my mind wanders, looking back at all the cool experiences we have had so far. Where an earth has the time gone?! We have been away from home for 15 weeks now an I still haven't started a blog so her it goes. I'm not going to back date as the blog would be far to long!
Currently we are on Koh Pha-ngan island, when we arrived yesterday after a 12 hr sleeper train from Bangkok, and a further 3 hr ferry and bus journey it was pouring down with rain! 'GREAT' I thought to myself, as many who know me will know I am a sun worshipper and I have been longing for this part of the trip for all of 15 weeks! I have done my fair share of trailing round historical sites, scenic routes and temples to mention but a few with Ben, and although to my surprise I have enjoyed every minute of the cultural experiences and meeting new people. I am now ready to relax on a beach! A hard life I know! Any way I digress! The RAIN, it was pouring down and it wasn't the blue skies I was expecting. We made our way to coco gardens, with our backpacks in tow. Walking as to save money! My idea,I have realised I am more of a saver than I could ever of imagined at home, see how long that lasts when I return to the uk. I soon began to regret my decision! As the rain cleared and the beating sun shone down on us we trudged on to find our home for the next 7 days. My bag began to feel heavier and with mine and Ben's map reading skills between us we were beginning to doubt the decision ever more! Ben stopped to ask local after local for directions. Finally we. Turned down a dusty dirt track to arrive upon a small, rustic beach with minimal resorts. We walked along in search for coco gardens. Passing a beach bar with a few English guys, one sat behind the bar,who I presumed owned the place. Ben stopped again and asked politely for directions 'next one along mate' he replied as his mates preceded to shout incoherent slurs at us. ' Thank god that wasn't it' I thought to myself. Ben looked at me as if to say the same thing.
Reaching our destination I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't holding out much hope for our budget 'beach huts on the beach' at £10 a night. However they are actually on the beach and very clean and new. By this time it was reaching 2 o'clock and we were shattered so the only sensible thing to do was to relax by the bar on the beach. As We wandered along the quiet, peaceful beach hand in hand I realised how lucky I am! This is the life. We watched the sunset and ate dinner under the stars listening to the sound of the sea. An early night was called for ;-). We will explore more tomorrow. have a feeling this is going to be a Christmas to remember!
