We were all excited to go to San Diego Zoo, which is set in Balboa Park. Its a lovely zoo, although very hilly so we were all tired after a few hours... I couldn't wait to see the giant pandas - there were 3 of them and they were absolutely gorgeous. Madisson kept saying 'teddy bear' all the time, and they did look just like cuddly toys! We stayed about 7 hours in total. Tonight we went to the Gaslamp Quarter, whihc is the old part of town, and has loads of cool shops, bars, restaurants etc. It has a really good atmosphere. We went to a Thai restaurant and sat outside; the food was very good,brought back memories of Asia. We ordered a banana and coconut ice cream desert with sparklers to be brought out for Dan's birthday (on Tuesday), gave him his card and got cocktails. Had a brilliant night.
