Alright guys and gals, well after an epic last night in Airlie beach (and almost missing my bus the next morning...panic!!) I made it to Townsville in the end even if it was passively as I slept the entire way!! Was a great night though and was good to see some of the Bananas crew out and about! I had to scrap Magnetic Island in the end as I am pushed for time so just stayed for the one night in Townsville and man am I glad it was just the one!! I couldnt stand the place. It was the one place I've been to in Oz which gave me a real bad vibe and was almost eerie walking around, like something had happened and everyone had deserted the place just leaving the weirdos and bums behind- proper ghost town!! So as you can imagine I didnt get up to too much. Just had a stroll around and chilled at the Marina for a bit and other than that not much really. Just slept for about 18 hours!! Anyways, glad to get away I got the bus upto Mission beach yesterday and again was surprised. This time not by the s***ness of the place (fortunately) but by the devastation left by the cyclone which happened here about 3 months ago. I thought there was just some strong winds and a few banana trees wree blown down!! I didnt realise that Larry completely destroyed this beautiful little place and surrounding rainforests! The impact is still clear as day today even after 3 months or so! Dunk Island just off the coast is still closed due to repairs! Crazy stuff! Its kinda good to see though and you truly realise the strength of Mother Nature. Anyways, enough of the Dawson Creek stuff, another thing which hit me was my first real taste of the north queensland weather! Its blimin roasting here! That proper sticky tropical moist heat where you can sweat buckets just getting up to go to the toilet!! It rained all last nigth but the sun is about today so may try to hit the beach for a while a little later. Other than that Im not gonna do too much here. Im not feeling the best at the mo, kinda coldy, coughy so just gonna take it easy and enjoy the football every night!! Come on England for tonight! They've really gotta rasie their game if they wanna compete with the big boys after an impressive German (and Argy) display last night! Lets get it on!!! Anyways, thats all I've got time for today. I'll probs email sometime in Cairns, im off there on Tuesday. Other than that enjoy the footy and have a beer on me! Dan
