Hi Folks!
So here we go with the last blog entry of South America! We can't believe its came round so quick. BA always marked the turning point of the adventure where everything leading up to it was travelling away from home, and everything after was on the road home. In order to mark the occasion I am changing writing style to give you a whistle-stop tour of what has to be one of the greatest cities on Earth.
Palermo - lots of shopping and bars. Where the cool rich kids hang out. OK, but not our fav area. Also, apparently I'm too wee for shopping in SA - everything is huge on me!
Recoletta Cemetry - VERY SPOOKY! Basically its a cemetry for the BA super-rich. Eva Peron is buried there. All the 'tombs are very grand, but its the windows showing you inside and the coffins on display that are crazy. When the windows are broken and there is nothing stopping anything getting out, Kim needs a hand to hold to walk past!
Tango Night - We missed the lesson in typical Camack timing and my procastination. But after a few beers we gave it a go! We were probably not very good, but we seemed to be enjoying it much more than everyone else! While we laughed and tripped our way about the floor everyone else had their very 'I'm really serious and that makes me Sexy' look on their face. ALll very serious. Until we show 'em how!
La Boca- Brilliant! Cheese-tastic touristy but great. The wee buildings, the people, all great. What you would expect from the Latins!
San Telmo Market - Lots of hippies (the Yang to the 9-to-5 Ying, or just bums?) Lots of stalls, lots of tat, but a new veiw on other styles. This is the area we stayed in. Kim liked the 'beat-up' feel. Very Parisienne in fact, beutiful architecture.
MALBA - Art gallery for Latin American artists. Very interesting, very thought-provoking, very confusing, all in equal measure. Summed up in Kim's terms - I just sometimes don't get it. What's the point of some of it?
FOOD! - Steak, lots, but only some of it good. Empanadas. Lots and lots of empanadas. But not enough. We will rectify that when we get back to Glasgow. Gonna make a fortune! Also, guy in hostal 'helped' me to make the most amazing chicken stir-fry with rice. Inspiring me to take on yet new skills. That'll be two extra days in the week needed now!
And Finally....
FOOTBALL!!! - Vamos, Vamos, River Plate! What a way to spend the last, and one of the best, nights in South America. The atmosphere was phenomenal. The River fans, the ones making the most noise, were in one top-tier stand. As a new band of supporters filtered in (invariably waving red and white umbrellas, a new ribbon flag or drums) the crowd would part to let them in as they started the whole stadium starting a new chant. Everytime I think about it I miss not being there, but Kim said she may like to become a Hoops fan to try and reinact it. I doubt we could, bt Greener, you me and Kim can catch a game when you come home. You can come too Caggy. We got beat 2-1, but that didn't spoil it too much.
Chiao South America, you have been unforgetable.

Breige Hey, give me a heads up on where you are going next. No particular reason just so I know. Wow, Eva Peron's grave how exciting. Tango, sorry I can't imagine an irish couple with that rhythm or moves. Good for giving it a go..... Football, you finally met a nation that is more crazy about the sport than the English. Did you met Deigo Maradona on yer travels?? (maybe not they fired him from the Argentine team). Can't wait to find out where you are next.... Take care B
