i've decided to buy my plane tickets today. i figured i should tell my mom first. here's how that went:

me: "hi mom"
mom: "hi mich"
me: "um, mom i have something i need to tell you"
mom : "ok"
long silence (i'm chickening out)
me: "umm, how do i put this"
another long silence
at this point it hits me that she may be thinking i'm trying to tell her something completely different

me: "umm, oh! it's not what you think it is!"
mom: "wha,t that your pregnant?"
me: "yup, thats not it"
mom: "ok, than what is it?"
me: "ok, so i'm going to australia"
mom: "oh yeah, when?"
me: "september"
mom: "nice, with who?"
me: "umm no one, just me"
BIG SILENCE
me: "bet you wish it was the other thing eh?"
mom: " call me after work, i need to digest this"

now i have to get up the courage to call her back.

later...

she's still not happy. my step-dad thinks it's funny. haha, she actually told me not to let my bottled water out of my sight. after she started to list off names of people who could go with me. she just doesn't understand all my friends are poor (as am i).

i just purchased my tickets. now i'm committed (as the tickets are non refundable). scary s***.
