A late finish last night as we watched the ball drop from the safety of our rooms in Washington and an early start as we caught the "On Board" Do it All in Washington tour at 9.30 New Years Day morning. Sadly we have no wifi at the Washington Hilton so I am blogging on notes on the iPad until we get to wifi! We got up this morning , had our showers and finished the last little bit of packing , checked out and hailed a cab to head to Penn Station. The taxi took us down 7th Ave to 33rd and passed Times Square where people had their chairs , blankets etc already set up in readiness for tonight's NYE. They are expecting 1 000 000 people to be in the precinct tonight...

Our last day in New York dawned fine and not so cold. We headed off down 8th Avenue towards Time Square with a stop for Kate to grab some "Ray Bans" ( 3 for $10) ...bargain!!
