After another good nights sleep and some breakfast we had a whole day to fill in, which is always a pain when you have a night flight! Our checkout was at noon and the Austins managed to get their room until 2pm so they wanted to have a swim and kick back by the pool for the morning. Mumsie wanted to look at a particular make-up shop on Orchard Road so she and I got the MRT up to Somerset and went to the ION Shopping Mall, where we duly found the store. As I stood patiently waiting (I had become very good at doing this - lots of practice!) for her I noticed with great mirth that one of the shop assistants helping her was a bit unusual and in fact was a classic "lady-boy". Mumsie seemed quite oblivious to "it" and was a bit puzzled when she realized I was giggling fit to kill! Ahhh Mumsie!
It was very noticeable that many of the shops in the huge mall were devoid of shoppers - another indication that the GFC has hit many places in the world and money is quite tight!
By the time we got back it was time to repack the cases one final time, have a shower and check out. With not much else planned we found a comfy lounge in the foyer and sat and read for a hour or two until Den and Sue arrived then we found a place for a light lunch before getting a taxi back to Changi Airport.
Once our cases were checked in we did some duty free shopping and then found a bar for a farewell drink! We had some Singapore dollars left and decided to splurge a bit so I ordered a double Jacks and coke for myself and a white wine for Sue! When the barman said the bill was SD$48 for the two drinks I bloody near dropped!!! What sort of a place is this???
We sipped the drinks very slowly and then made our way to our flight and left for home right on time!
